High-Tech Sorcery! 08/05/2008
This kinda reminds me of Minority Report, but without the transparent monitors and gloves. Mission: iPhone 07/14/2008
After our quiet getaway in the Western NC mountains it was back to the hustle and bustle of the city in a big way. We went to join the crowd of people at the SouthPark Mall Apple store to try and acquire the new iPhone 3G. I waited out on the first iPhone primarily because of the lack of 3G and 3rd party app support, so I was overdue. When we first got there and went to take a place in the line that wrapped around the store, we were told by mall security that the Apple store had decided to close the line. Not to be denied and leave iPhone 3G-less, we asked a mac genius what the scoop was. He informed us that they were going to do a "staff reassessment" in about an hour to decide if they can open the line back up. So we walked around the mall for a bit, grabbed some coffee, and then proceeded back to the store where they soon opened the line back up, and we landed about 10th in line more or less. We then waited for our chance to grab the worlds most famous gadget. The total time spent at the mall and in line was about 2 hours. Owning a shiny new iPhone, priceless. Heading off to Mount Pisgah for the weekend. On schedule is another stop at the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institue, (PARI) for a talk on their Photographic Data Archive. Hey it's fun to us anyways. Still looking to figure out what to do for filler while we are up there. hmmmmm.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!! 07/05/2008
Linville Falls Trip 07/04/2008
So we had no real plans for the 4th of July, but once the day arrived we didn't like the prospects of sitting around the house for the day. We have been talking about the Brown Mountain Lights lately and through that came the idea of Linville Falls. We've been to Linville Falls many a times but for what ever reason we never tried out the parking lot on the other side of the gorge off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. So that was the plan. Once there we thought that it might rain but we trekked on. First stop was a simple overlook .5 miles from the visitors center. Not satisfied with the hike we chose to climb down to the bottom of the falls. Now there is a trail that takes you to the plunge of the falls, but I say climb because the trail itself was basically built into the rock cliff. Getting down was easy enough if you watch you steps, but the climb back up was pretty much butt-kicking. It was all worth it though and at the end of the day you feel accomplished. And as it turns out we got pretty lucky with our timing. Once we finally made our way out, soon as we got into the parking lot, the sky finally decided to open up. Calm before the storm 06/29/2008
Sitting and waiting for the latest round of storms to hit the Charlotte area. Hopefully if they enter into the area at the right angle we will be able to get a few good photos out of it. PIZZA!! 06/28/2008
Death of a salesman 06/28/2008
![]() This series 7 test is going to be the death of me. Either death by boredom, failure, or maybe even brain hemorrhage. Giving up weekends (at least 4-5 hrs a day) to try and get it done, but even then I can't see any light at the end of the 10 pages per 30 min tunnel... Getting things just right! 06/28/2008
Well designing this new site has been a little time consuming, but as always, fun. Fine tuning a few things here and there, but weebly makes things so simple it's ludicrous. |
